Area: West Coast (Parklands, Sunningdale, Melkbos and surrounds) and Northern Suburbs
I am a Software Architect and a parenting and lifestyle blogger, with a passion for birth and empowering moms and dads in order to approach their baby’s birth with confidence and joy.
We currently have three children – two of them were both born peacefully and joyfully in hospital with a midwife, while the third one, who is still on the way, is a planned home birth.
Our first child, Morgan-Lee, was born in 2011, and although it truly was such a lively, happy and amazing experience where laughter and music could be heard from our room, I just couldn’t get the pictures and videos of sleeping HypnoBirthing moms I’d previously seen, out of my head. I kept thinking, “How on earth did these birthing moms manage such degrees of relaxation during birth?!”
Determined to learn more about it, I signed up for a HypnoBirthing class the moment I fell pregnant with our second child, Parker-Grace, and have never looked back. Parker-Grace was born via a natural, drug and intervention free birth after only 4 hours active labour (most of which I napped through). The experience was calm and comfortable with no complications or tearing, despite being born with a nuchal hand. All of this I attribute to the HypnoBirthing techniques I had learnt.
Our experience was so incredible that I knew I wanted to train as a HypnoBirthing practitioner to share and spread this knowledge.
Also, whilst our first child’s birth was a beautiful experience, much to my unpleasant surprise, I had to fight very hard for it. And in talking with countless other moms and dads, I soon realised that there were so many other moms going through a very similar fear-led journey. It was this realisation, coupled with our wonderful HypnoBirthing experience that inspired me to get qualified and help other moms and dads towards a more informed, empowered and amazing birth experience.
Qualifications
I trained as a HypnoBirthing practitioner in September 2016 with the HypnoBirthing Institute (Mongan Method) in South Africa. I am a registered HypnoBirthing Childbirth Educator (HBCE).
