I first came to South Africa from the UK in 1997, after meeting my South African husband. I fell in love with Cape Town, and, after returning to live in England for 7 years between 2002 and 2009, we have finally settled back in Cape Town where the lure of warm weather, wonderful people and open space proved to be too much to resist!
We have two children - our first, Kiera, was born in 2005 in an English hospital, and although it was a natural birth and progressed “normally”, I felt I had no control over parts of the process and felt disappointed about too many things to ignore them for my second pregnancy.
I discovered HypnoBirthing® shortly after falling pregnant with James, and after following the method, our son James was born, at home, in under 2 hours following a pain-free, drug-free labour. It was one of the most incredible experiences of my life and inspired me to train as a practitioner to pass it on. The mums I have had the privilege to teach in the UK have all had wonderful birthing experiences.
I trained as a HypnoBirthing practitioner in November 2008 with the HypnoBirthing Institute founded by Marie Mongan, and am a registered HypnoBirthing Childbirth educator.
